Foothills Lions RFC was first established as the ‘Okotoks Rampant Lions’ in the 1970’s and continued as a division three men’s team until 1995.

In 2005, with the community growing strong, Joe Buck introduced the junior rugby program. He fielded a U-13 junior team and now, with his commitment, the club is proud to have established one of the strongest youth programs in Alberta.

The Div. 3 senior men’s team was re-established in 2010 and had a very successful year which took them all the way to the playoffs.

The Lions' youth program now includes mixed programs for U-7 through U-11 age grades and both boys and girls programs for U-13 to U-18 divisions. Senior rugby includes both men's and women's teams.

World Rugby - Ethos of Rugby

At the heart of Rugby is a unique ethos which it has retained over the years.  Not only is the Game played to the Laws, but within the spirit of the Laws. Through discipline, control and mutual self-respect, a fellowship and sense of fair play are forged, defining Rugby as the Game it is.
