2024 Registration Open!

The Foothills Lions (FLRFC) is proud to announce the registration is open for the spring / summer programs. Rugby is returning to its normal schedule with Youth (minis) and U13-U15 playing in the spring (May - June) with U16 - U18 playing in the summer (July - August). Seniors will run May - August. Fall 7s will run as normal in September.

Before you begin registration, please refer to our Registration page under the Programs tab above for important information regarding registration, including instructions, costs and fee breakdowns, and financial assistance options.

We totally understand that the current financial situation is putting pressure on all of us.  It is so important that we provide a team environment for our athletes to participate and thrive playing this wonderful sport. To assist, we have split our club costs and the insurance/union fees into two separate payments that can be filled out at different times. In addition, we have introduced an instalment plan for the insurance/union fees.

Club registration should be filled in as soon as possible. Insurance/Rugby Union registration and associated fees must be completed by April 1, 2023.

For families that may require further assistance, please see the two links below for organizations that provide financial assistance for kids sporting activities:

Kidsport

Kidsport provides grants to help cover the costs of registration fees, as well as providing no-cost equipment so that all kids aged 18 and under in Calgary & Area can play a season of sport.

Jumpstart

Jumpstart is committed to helping all families access a range of activities, from boxing to bowling and skating to skiing, and more.

Due to some limitations in the Sportslomo registration software, registration this year is again a two-step process.

The first step is to complete FLRFC's club registration (SportsEngine, same as the club's website). The club registration covers club fees and is used to generate team rosters. This should be completed as soon as possible.

The second step will be to complete a Rugby Canada registration for liability insurance and union dues using your Sportlomo login. This registration can be done at any time but must be completed prior to the start of training (~April 1, 2023).

Registration (Step #1) on the Foothills Lions WebSite:

Before you start please read the Before you Begin Section first, this is very important.

Complete a Club-specific registration using your SportsEngine account. This is the same account used by the Club website for team and Club communications.

This registration includes the Club's Code of Conduct and Respect in Sport policies as well as the Police Information Check (PIC) for coaches and volunteers. Please complete this registration as soon as possible. The Club registration is located at:

Registration (Step #2) on the SportLomo website:

Navigate to rugbycanada.sportlomo.com. Select on "Alberta" as the province and "Foothills Lions" as your Club. Double-check to ensure that you have selected the correct Club.

Registration has been simplified based on age grades. Select your registration type and then click on the "REGISTER" button that appears immediately below.

On the next screen, sign in to your existing Sportlomo account (or register for an account if you are a new member).

Ensure the selection is correct then carry through the registration process.

"Respect in Sport"

The Respect in Sport Parent Program takes approximately one hour to complete and does not have to be completed in one sitting. The Respect in Sport training costs $12 plus applicable taxes and is valid for four years. You need to complete this and acquire a certificate number to be able to complete the registration. You can use an existing respect in sport certification number you have received through another sport, provided that it is still valid.
